School Day Launching New US Districts and Schools Together with Eduscape

School Day is expanding its presence in the US together with Eduscape, its North American distribution partner. School Day's award-winning service will be adopted by several K-12 districts and schools in early 2021.

Student wellbeing and social-emotional learning (SEL) were a priority even prior to COVID-19. Now, with the rapid transition to remote and hybrid learning, SEL has become a top agenda topic for many districts. New schools and districts starting with School Day include Ursuline Academy in New Orleans, Palmer School District in Massachusetts, and the Diocese of Agana in Guam.

"We are excited to deploy School Day to our students and teachers immediately after the holiday break; it is the only tool we have seen that can provide useful data on the wellbeing of our students by giving them a voice while securing their privacy.", stated Tracy Bonday, Principal of Ursuline, founded in 1727 and the oldest Catholic school and all-girls K-12 in the United States.

According to CASEL, SEL offers a powerful means to support one another – children and adults – during this challenging time. Now, more than ever, we understand how important it is to demonstrate empathy and resilience, build relationships across distance, and call upon our collective resolve to strengthen our schools and our communities.

School Day CEO Mika Kasanen says: "We have systematically built the awareness of our unique service together with Eduscape this year. I'm very happy about the latest developments, and especially that more and more districts are trusting School Day as part of their SEL initiatives. Creating our first local success stories has proven to be a very successful strategy. The year 2021 is looking very exciting for us together."

No one was ready for this upheaval, says Christina Cipriano, Director of Research at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence (YCEI). "It's a daunting reality, no question, but the worst thing we can do for our teachers, students, and families is de-prioritize SEL during the pandemic," she explains. "It is next-to-impossible to expect teaching and learning to occur in a crisis without attending to our emotions."

Alex Urrea, Eduscape's Founder and CEO adds "As a leading IE company (Innovation in Education), the team at Eduscape has evaluated and represented world-class educational resources to advance teaching and learning. School Day is perhaps the most important tool we have ever supported due to its data-driven approach to social-emotional learning strategies and giving students a recurring voice in their wellbeing needs."
