K-12 schools are facing increasing pressure to adopt technology that is both innovative and safe. But educators and administrators need a more effective means of navigating the crowded edtech marketplace. With its ecosystem orchestration platform, SchoolDay is focused on streamlining how schools vet, provision, and manage their apps. To further expand a school’s ability to vet apps quickly and thoroughly, SchoolDay has partnered with the EdTech Index. The EdTech Index is a groundbreaking initiative from ISTE+ACSD that brings clarity, transparency, and trust to education technology.

This partnership represents SchoolDay’s commitment to helping districts make smarter, safer, and more impactful choices for their students and teachers. SchoolDay will now display quality indicators – independent, trusted certifications and standards used to assess edtech quality – right within the platform where school administrators manage app approvals and digital identity provisioning. Tal Havivi, managing director of R&D at ISTE+ASCD, believes these indicators will save districts thousands of hours vetting apps.

Why the ISTE+ASCD EdTech Index Matters

The EdTech Index serves as a first-of-its-kind public platform that displays trusted educational tools aligned with ISTE’s Seal of Alignment and the newly introduced Trusted Quality Indicators (TQIs). These indicators reflect rigorous research-backed criteria for evaluating edtech products across Five Edtech Quality Indicators: safe, evidence-based, inclusive, usable, and interoperable. These Five Edtech Quality Indicators are validated by trusted leaders, including 1EdTech, CAST, CoSN, SETDA, Digital Promise, InnovateEDU, and ISTE.

“Our mission has always been to empower schools with solutions that are both respected and responsible,” said Robert Iskander, CEO of SchoolDay. “Zero-trust ecosystem orchestration is the future, and this partnership with ISTE reflects our dedication to transparency, research-driven development, and student data privacy, placing them at the center of everything we do.”

Zero-Trust Ecosystem Orchestration, Strengthened with Better Transparency

SchoolDay offers a zero-trust ecosystem orchestration platform that replaces raw student data with anonymized tokens. Serving more than 36,000 schools and 18 million learners, the platform safeguards PII while seamlessly managing multi-factor authentication, SSO, and open-data exchange standards.

Partnering with ISTE+ASCD ensures that schools have the information they need to select apps that are aligned with ISTE’s Trust Quality Indicators. With this integration, school administrators can view important quality indicators directly within the SchoolDay platform, where they view and provision their apps. There is no need to visit another website or speak with a salesperson to determine an app’s level of security. This adds transparency to a process that previously relied on slow, manual reviews. It also gives edtech providers a valuable way to showcase their verified practices and demonstrate alignment with school priorities.

As Calypso Gilstrap, the associate director of the office of educational technology and classroom innovation at the Virginia department of education, said in EdWeek:

Instead of finding a tool and then being like, ‘How can we use this?’ It’s now going to be, ‘I have this problem and I need to solve it. What are the tools available to me?’  So, it kind of flips the script on how I’m going to select educational technology.

That’s a powerful shift for schools, who can now come to one place – SchoolDay – and make immediate decisions about what apps will benefit their curriculum strategy.
